Needs: help now, languages, what happens after (fresh reads 2026-11-06)

The working record behind the pages, published as written. Source file source/impact/needs-2026-11-06.md. All records.

Read 2026-11-06, 08:55–09:21 EST. Every quote below was read today from the URL given; nothing is filled from memory.

Decision this feeds. The wording of three additions: (a) a short "if this is happening to you" line near the top of each Do page, written for the person living the problem; (b) one sentence per page on which hotlines and finders serve other languages; (c) a "What happens after" section on the child-hunger Do page. Who decides: Isaac. This file grades evidence. It does not edit pages.

How each source was read.

Grades. primary: a government page, or a service operator describing how its own service works. charity's own figures: a nonprofit's own numbers or claims about results. research: survey or study reports. news: press. "our test" marks a check we ran ourselves.

Working files (raw HTML, text, rendered output, the FTC WebFetch copy) are in the session scratchpad: [local working file]. They are not kept in the repo.

C. Child hunger: what happens after

C1. GiveWell's Top Charities Fund

C1.1 How and when the money is granted.

> GiveWell grants 100% of the value of donations designated for the Top Charities Fund (minus any fees charged by payment processors) to the program or programs that the research team recommends.

> GiveWell does not take any fees from the donations.

C1.2 What the donor receives afterwards.

> This designation will be communicated via the receipt you receive from GiveWell.

C2. Stopping or changing a monthly gift

C2.1 GiveWell.

> You can also send us an email at donations@givewell.org with any questions or requests regarding your donation.

> If you have a recurring PayPal donation that was set up after November 1, 2022, you can manage your giving on our donor portal.

C2.2 ALIMA (US).

> Please reach out to us at info.usa@alima.ngo if you have any questions

> Use the email address linked to your donations or fundraiser page.

C2.3 IRC.

> If you need support managing your gift, contact our Supporter Care team at partners@rescue.org or 855-973-7283.

> Please note that all refunds are returned using the original method of payment. We will review and process refund requests for donations made within 90 days of your initial gift to the IRC.

C3. Child sponsorship: do donors get a child's name or photo?

C4. What a child's treatment involves

C4.1 IRC research summary (simplified, combined protocol).

> Given this, a Combined Protocol is proposed that admits children with MUAC<125mm and/or oedema and treats as follows: MUAC <115mm - 2 sachets RUTF/d; MUAC 115mm- <125mm -1 sachet RUTF/d).

> The amount of ready-to-use food (RUTF) required for a child with SAM to reach full recovery was less in the combined protocol (122 versus 193 sachets), and the combined protocol cost US$123 less per child recovered (US$918 versus US$1,041).

> Cumulative relapse incidence to MUAC < 125 mm was relatively high (26%); to achieve reduction in relapse, recovery criteria may need to be revised and post-discharge strategies tested.

> this study also proved that treatment by CHWs resulted in similar (94%) recovery as treatment by formal health care workers.

C4.2 UNICEF USA's RUTF gift.

> Inspired Gifts represent lifesaving aid. Your donation is unrestricted, allowing UNICEF to help children where the need is greatest.

C4.3 Visits (the only source read today that gives them).

> We transport these children to our inpatient care centers where nurses and doctors can stabilize them.

C5. After a call to a Senate office

C5.1 What offices do with constituent contacts.

> Constituents who take the time to contact our office directly – via our website or phone calls – about their concerns are given priority treatment. Their comments are recorded, and the data is shared with the entire staff for immediate action.

> Phone Calls 84%

C5.2 How and when offices reply.

> For most offices, acceptable and achievable average turnaround goals are less than one week for responses using pre-approved language and two to four weeks for those requiring new text to be drafted and approved.

> In CMF’s experience, many Members promote a particular turnaround goal and are shocked to find many messages go unanswered for three months, six months, or even longer.

> Members of Congress primarily want constituents to provide answers to four questions:

Note, 2026-11-06 (later)

The DOJ page /program/stop-elder-fraud/about-hotline carries neither the hours nor the languages; both are on /program/stop-elder-fraud/providing-help-restoring-hope.

Also (child-hunger Do re-verification, 6 Nov): C1.1's claim that every Top Charities Fund grant went to the four programs holds only from May 2022; GiveWell's table lists earlier deworming grants and GiveDirectly. The fund grants all of a gift except payment fees.
